Fear

“Fear is the great mind killer.” Dune

This is one of my favourite quotes of all time. It is the code of a very evolved group of people in a Science Fiction book called Dune.
Often when I am afraid of what is going to happen next, this phrase becomes my mantra because I know that when I live in fear, I am living in the absence of love and the absence of love causes the mind to shut down. And when the mind shuts down so does the body and so does our ability to grow and prosper.
Living in fear is the equivalent of opening the door to the darkness or blowing out the candle then wondering how or why the darkness got in. When our lives revolve around fear all that we see is less and we feel resentment towards it.
Only when we accept that sometimes life puts us in situations to test us, to see if we are ready to move to the next level will we shut out the dark and ultimately fear. You see fear is by nature very cunning because it entices us into its far reaching web by making us believe that whatever is happening in our lives that has caused some upset is somehow not our fault and it causes us to look outside for blame rather than within.
Everything that happens in our lives happens because we have invited it in by the energy we have put out. Therefore the only way that we can ever get rid of the negativity is by facing the negativity head on, letting it pass through us, experience it, learn something from it then move on. The power of releasing fear and the darkness lies within us and no matter how hard we try shift the blame to others, unless we shift the way we feel, we will always with dogged with feelings of fear and loathing.
And believe me, that’s not a good way to live because all it does is eat up our insides. Fear is the great mind killer. And in the absence of fear there is love. So the obvious solution to getting rid of fear is to know that love is the great mind awakener. I am going to try to remember this on the days when I am shrouded in fear so that I can shake it away and turn to love and light.
