Footloose and fancy free

Sometimes when we are in positions 

Where we can just let go and let be

When we can kick up our feet and dance to the beat

That’s what we are meant to do

What we are being called to do

Just to let go and be free

Dance, sing, move, rock  

To the sound of the rhythm from within

Closing our eyes and letting go

To the eternal sound of the Universal soul

Pushing aside the façade

The image we are told to project

Instead becoming who we sometimes neglect

Because we are afraid

So afraid to let go

Afraid of being judged

Afraid of what people might say

But sometimes 

We have to let our hair down

Shake it free

Tossing our heads from side to side

Allowing the inner dancer to emerge

Breaking free of the chains that try to bind us

To an image that sometimes needs to be let go

In order for us to feel the Inner Goddess or God within

The one that keeps us together

The one that never fails us

That one that is with us all the way

But sometimes we need to let her loose

Him loose

To enjoy the fantasies, the light, the love

That sometimes eludes us

Because we are so busy trying to be something

So busy trying to portray who we think the world wants us to be

When really all we need is to surrender

Surrender and let go

Allowing the façades to fall

The bondage to fall to the ground

As we raise our arms

Lift our voices

And dance to the beat

Letting go

Not caring

Not worrying

Just feeling powerful enough to let the inner glow

Come to the forefront and shine the way for us

And that’s why when we are given the opportunity

To let go

To surrender

When we hear music that touches us

The tribal beat that calls our name

From the special place

That rocks us up off our seat

And asks us to surrender to the beat

When we feel our feet tapping

And our heart singing

We know it is our Universal call

To let go

To surrender

Break free

And make way for the Inner Goddess

Inner God to come out

And let the world see

We are human

Fancy free and footloose

Not always bound by the shackles of the image we portray

No

We are much more than that

For we are layers and layers  

And sometimes we have to give ourselves permission

To just let go

To peel back the layers

And let out the dancer

The singer

The creator

The embracer of life

That resides within us all

Foot loose and fancy free

Ready to embrace the childlike star

Waiting 

Who wants to break free

And show all of us to the world

For we are not just one image

We are many

Wow what a release

What a relief

What a joy

To be as we want to be

Footloose and fancy free
